RIP Computer

  • Aug 7, 2008
  • Post a comment

I'm typing this from work, so it can't be very long, but basically....my computer is dead. It has some weird hard drive error on it probably resulting from a partition error and now it just isn't registering the hard drive at all. I tried re-formatting, but it's telling me I don't have a hard drive to reformat :(

Anyway, Barry is working on it and I hope to get it up by the end of today...hopefully with vista gone forever and xp back, but who knows.

Poor, poor computer...I miss you so. Just when I finally had a dream I had remembered vividly enough to blog about too LOL

I will NEVER post a comment to the vox update blog again. Now my comment section on the main page is garbled up with replies after mine in that blog, none of which have anything to do with my comment and none of which I am interested in reading. But it is making it impossible to see the comments I AM interested in reading...

I'd like there to be a way to turn off the option to see all other comments posted after yours. So I don't have to deal with getting 40 comments off "[this is good] thanks Vox! But I think you should blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda next time." It would work if there was a little box or something to check while you're making the comment.

"Would you like to see mindless chatter about this subject and other tangents bound to come up?"

No Vox, but thanks for the offer. *check*

This Joe's Goals thing is freaking awesome, let me tell you. It's been far more successful at breaking some of my bad habits then I ever thought it would be. Ever since I started it I've been drinking my recommended 64oz of water a day, even more on some days. I've been trying to get myself into the habit of drinking more water since I started having kidney stones in junior high lol and now this chart has me doing it from day one with no problem.

I've also stopped sleeping in as much. I used to complain that my day is wasted away by sleeping in until noon on my days off and days I work late, but I could never seem to stop! Now I get a negative 5 points if I sleep in past 10 and it's worked like a charm. There was only one day so far that I've lost the points and I felt so crappy losing those points that I don't want it to happen again haha. I guess that's why it works.

Anyway, my parents are coming into town in a couple weeks to be here when I do my coffee seminar for my coffee master training. I'm so excited! I think we're going to do the botanical gardens or the desert museum while they're here too so that'll be lots of fun.

I just need to get the apartment clean. Eep.

Joe's (Lindsey's) Goals

  • Mar 3, 2008

I just stumbled over this neat little page I thought I'd share with you guys. It's called Joe's Goals and it lets you create this cool chart that helps you track your goals whether it be positive or negative ones. Positive would be stuff like updating your blog, getting exercise, etc. While negative could be something like eating out or drinking a soda. You get points (positive or negative) per check marks put in the chart and you can even designate how many points each check gets depending on the weight of each goal. Also, if you want, it gives you a code to embed a simplified chart into any page you want like myspace or whatever. This is mine:

It's super easy to use and I know I'm going to get a lot of use out of it. I'm the kind of person that would love to be more productive, but I don't really have anything keeping me in line and motivating me so I just don't do the stuff I should be doing like I should be doing it. I only wish I had a way to embed the actual chart so everyone could see where my checks are and stuff as opposed to just seeing the points I have. Oh well, I recommend it anyway :)

And this is one point for me! I embedded my little personal point badge into the sidebar of my vox also, so everyone can see haha

Linda Vista Community Hospital

This was the first time I'd ever really been urban exploring though I've been wanting to for years now. No one ever wanted to go with me lol I was actually expecting to be a little more creeped out than I was, but the Linda Vista Hospital seemed almost welcoming in most parts (save for one unsettling section).

I'd love to go back again sometime.

Holy Delicious, Batman!

I'm probably not supposed to be telling anyone this, but it's too good to pass up. Starbucks is coming out with a Honey Latte soon. I've tried it and it's the most delicious thing in the world. I think I've had like 8 of them in the past few days because I just can't stop. Good thing I get my drinks for free while I'm working lol

Unfortunately about 50% of the team really really hates it. Which means it may be a limited edition thing if it doesn't become really popular with the Average Joe Customer. But, if you like honey, I really recommend it. [insert information about the actual debut date which I still need to look up] Available now! (Also, it's been determined that the honey latte is a MILLION times better when made with soy. If made with regular milk it's pretty gross haha)

    In other news:

Kings Of Convenience - I'D Rather Dance With You

I'm very much in love with the lead guy in this band (the one with the glasses). Erland Øye. He not only works on stuff with Kings Of Convenience but he's also the creator of The Whitest Boy Alive, a band I believe I've previously raved about and he has several solo albums out as well. So not only is he super duper talented, but he's tall-and-skinnylicious. Oh Yeah.

Guess who is outside fixing my car right now. Glass Place 2! *headdesk*

Now I can't get a hold of Glass Place 1 to cancel our appointment for later today. I'm hoping they're just out to lunch or something. I left a message but who's to say they're going to actually call me back?

Bride Of Update.

So yesterday I finally called my insurance and they figured out what had happened. The glass people (who I now refer to as Glass Place 1) are two hours away from my current location. Argh. So they gave me the number to another place in Tucson (Glass Place 2) and I got a hold of them and with some time on the phone got my insurance claim switched over to them also so it'd still all be free and stuff.

Glass Place 2 says they can send someone out to fix my glass between 8am and 12pm today and of course they would call before coming over.

Well, I just got a call and the guy was really nice and stuff, but then it suddenly occurred to me that he was asking questions that had already been answered. He hangs up briefly to find out if my glass is available for them to fix calls me back and sure enough says he's from Glass Place 1. So it's 10:30m now and I still haven't heard from Glass Place 2 but Glass Place 1 says they're coming to my work at around 3 this afternoon to fix it all up for me. This is good.

The bad part is that I already had my insurance claim switched over to the Glass Place 2 so I don't know if it's going to cause huge problems for Glass Place 1 to fix it.

Jeez, I just want this done and over with already. If Glass Place 2 calls I'll have to tell them that another place is already coming out to fix it and maybe I can convince them to transfer me to the guy that deals with the insurance part of it and we can get the claim switched again...or something.

So, the glass people were supposed to get in touch with me before noon today...but of course they didn't. And of course it poured today like it was the end of the world. Blah.

Luckily my dad put duct tape over the hole so no water got through and now I'm trying my damndest to get a hold of this glass repair place to figure out where the hell they are. My insurance company gave me their number, but I can't find it now and this place doesn't seem to exist anywhere in Tucson, so my only hope is to try and clal back my insurance company and get the number again.

What a fiasco lol
